Let me check for Biblical verses that prescribe clergy to be celibate........annnnnddd none. That's why the Catholic Church will die a slow slow death.

There were rumblings that they were going to overturn this one. Personally, I want my pastor/priest to have gone through marriage before counseling me on a topic he's never dealt with in his life.

Come on now... I think a celibate German weirdo knows a lot more about marriage than any of us. With the topic of Scriptural backing for priestly celibacy in mind, I'd like to see some verses that prohibit gambling (see previous post).

Tim 2:2A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; (KJV)

Let us at least not knock the celebate, for God calls some to celebacy. Let us respect the celebate, for it is a high calling. Don't ask me to explain the rule of celebacy for the priesthood in the Catholic church... I'm with you all on that. Abraham, David, Solomon (especially, haha) would all be denied as Catholic priests. If they were priests and then married, they would be excommunicated it seems. Crazy stuff.

The first Pope was married (Peter had a wife.)
