Stupid Christians Continue Idiotic Evolution Argument?

Q. What's worse than the evolution v. Creation debate?

A. Christians barely literate in their own religion talking about evolution as if they're experts.

Please tell me how fundamentalist Christians can argue that evolution is a 'scam' when they themselves are not evolutionists? Does that not defeat the fundamentalist argument? For example, a fundamentalist will charge, "evolution isn't science, it's a bad theory and I'm sick of it!" That's like an atheist saying, "Christianity isn't faith, it's a bad belief and I'm sick of it!" But apparently that's the best they can come up with.

No Wonder the World Hates [Fundamentalist] Christians

How about this one, "I can prove using science that without a doubt God exists!". What the heck?! One on hand fundamentalists reject 'science' but then on the other hand they play the science game, mixing Bible with science, to prove their own theories? Let the scientists be the scientists and the church be the church.

Here's some advice free of charge: do not engage in dialogue on a subject you have no clue about. 97% of all Christians fall under the category of 'no clue' when it comes to evolution so shut up about it. Learn your own book rather than pushing somebody's agenda for literal six-day creation or what have you.

If that's not enough, it look incredibly bad on the faith when fundamentalist hog the limelight and create challenges to 'atheists' (because apparently evolution = atheism). This is the problem, fundamentalist will declare with absolute certainty that evolution is a scam and God's creation can be proven scientifically. Read this post about a debate coming soon between 2 fundamentalist Christians and 2 atheists.

Kirk Cameron (remember that stellar production Left Behind?) is an ACTOR. He knows NOTHING about evolution and probably even less about his Bible (Ok, I went to far, forgive me.) But apparently those two represent Christianity and anybody else, those Christian who may believe in evolution or don't adhere to six-day literal creation are dead wrong.

How can that be when Christians are saying the opposite thing! Read this article about a geneticist (hooray he actually went to school!) discussing aspects of evolution.

Here's the problem. Both are apparently Christians but both hold two different opinions. The fundamentalist proclaims six-day literal creation or ELSE *waves fist in air* and the other honestly reflects on what is really at hand in what he's good at, genetics.

Quite frankly, this whole fundamentalist run is getting tiresome and old. Sure I will go to bad on certain issues, but man, I'm not going to cut down fellow Christians over secondary issues like this. Do not proclaim six-day literal creation to be the only way. I have no problem if you believe that, but do not proclaim it to be absolute or you are no different from the atheist proclaiming no God--in fact, you're probably more of a pompous nob too deaf to follow your rules.

Creation and Evolution Mutually Exclusive?

Debunking Literal Six-Day Creationism

You've heard the argument before,

"The earth and humanity were created!"

"No, No, the earth quite clearly evolved."

"No it was created by God."

"I'm pretty sure a series of cosmic flukes put us here."

"Created"
"Evovled"
"CREATED!"
"EVOLVED!"

*BANG* In a bout of frustration the creationist shoots the evolutionist and does away with his problems.

Well, slowly but surely, it appears American fundamentalist are loosing a battle that should have been done years ago. Even Texas Universities are welcoming big name Evolutionists on campus. There are some very valid points quoted from the biologist in the article. Do check it out.

The issue I have with the whole creation debate is people are busying themselves (by people I mean exclusively Christians) with fighting the government, universities, media, etc., on their ground, rather than doing what they are supposed to do--be the church.

This obviously leads to a number of things, namely intolerance. The main problem stems from fundamentalist Christians (who aren't really that 'fun') who tout the 'inerrancy' of Scripture but do little to respect the actual text!

Let's be honest, the Bible is clear on one thing: the earth has a Creator. Fundamentalist will scream SIX DAYS!!! and anything less is unbiblical.

I think dbiddy (an author at POMOTHEO) put it best, and I paraphrase, "six days to me is God taking his time." Fact of the matter is, WHO CARES? Read the Genesis account, we have a Creator, woot! 6 day literal interpretations is not a necessity stemming from the text. Believe in that tenant if you wish, but please oh please, stop telling the Christian who believes in evolution that the 'theory is unproven'. You're theory consists of arguing that your English version of ancient Scripture is a better scientific document than some science.

Speaking of science, the whole push towards literal days of creation stems out of the very product of society that fundamentalists are fighting so hard against! Modernity was very interested in the source of things; being 'literal' in Genesis 1-2 is resorting to the authority of secular words to describe your own.

Where does that leave us today? Two thing we need to ask ourselves (there are more than two things but here are two.)

1. Why is it that in church history the notion of literal six day creation is pretty much entirely absent? Did we discover something suddenly in the 1800's or was literal six-day creation simply a reactionary response to Darwin? On this topics, why do Jews, who have the same scripture, do not discuss anything about six-day literal creation? Could it be they understand the importance of not taking topics out of their proper literary context? (Note hint of sarcasm).

2. By saying the earth MUST have been created in literal six-days implies everyone, including Christians, who do not believe in literal six-day interpretations are inherently WRONG and you are RIGHT.

I am not willing to adopt either point and therefore must re-think my approach. In the very least, one needs to re-examine how they are treating the Biblical text and note why everyone around them thinks they are intolerant SOBs. The reason they do is because you are. I don't want my kids to grow up in a world where the most intolerant people are Christians, that's not good.

Run with evolution till your heart's content, I really don't care, I'm not a biologist. But what I do know is that this earth, this UNIVERSE, has a Creator. How that all came to be is a moot point.

Jehovah Witnesses Killing Babies?

Another Sad Story From BC Related to Blood Transfusions

It appears there are more children, this time newborns, facing death at the hands of parent's and a religious system that prevents necessary blood transfusions. A couple from BC had sextuplets, two of which passed prematurely, and another 3 that require blood transfusions to improve health. (See Link Here.)

What is so sad about this event is that countless innocent children have passed away because their parent's have adhered to an ancient and hypocritical doctrinal system. The JW's believe that blood transfusions are forbidden in the Bible (they connect the disprove in the OT of eating blood (consumption) with transfusion).

Other than the fact no single Hebrew scholar would ever suggest this is a correct way to interpret the text, but the JW's have themselves changed their opinions on doctrinal matters because so many of their own have died needlessly.

Case in point:

Watchtower used to outlaw vaccinatinos!
1929 "Thinking people would rather have smallpox than vaccination, because the latter sows seeds of syphilis, cancers, eczema, erysipelas, scrofula, consumption, even leprosy and many other loathsome affections. Hence the practice of vaccinations is a crime, an outrage, and a delusion" (Golden Age, Jan. 5, 1929, p502)

They rescinded that, changed their minds, and moved on. (how many died because the Watchtower elders decided vaccinations = no no is not known.

Say no no to organ transplants you cannibal!
1967 "When men of science conclude that this normal process will no longer work and they suggest removing the organ and replacing it directly with an organ from another human, this is simply a shortcut. Those who submit to such operations are thus living off the flesh of another human. That is cannibalistic. However, in allowing man to eat animal flesh Jehovah God did not grant permission for humans to try to perpetuate their lives by cannibalistically taking into their bodies human flesh, whether chewed or in the form of whole organs or body parts taken from others." (Watchtower, Questions from Readers, Nov. 15, 1967 p 702-704)

Have they changed this one yet?

Anyways, pray for the newborns....Do these parent's and the Watchtower prefer the death over a blood transfusion?

Sacrifice Your Mind at the Altar of Television

Tune in to The Letters, season II

The Letters II

It's low budget, it's Canadian, and it's way too pretentious for the jokers that actually signed on (I'm the goofball third from the right). Being on the show was an amazing experience, hopefully the show itself will reflect this.

Ten suitors seek the affections of "Roxanne", but only one will get to meet her. Without knowing anything about us beyond what is written in our letters, "Roxanne" eliminates one suitor each day. Bear witness as I subtly attempt to evangelize the entire nation.

Calgary Street Minister Facing Fines

Art Pawlowski Demands to be Shot

It appears trouble is a brewing in downtown Calgary between by-law officers and a street ministry. Lately, people have been complaining that the minister is loud, their sound system that operates on the sidewalk is disturbing nearby residents. Apparently minister Art Pawlowski believes he has the right blast his sermons into the homes of those near him without a fine. Frankly, I would call the by-law officer too if a speaker system was blaring noise into my home.

But, then again, I don't know the circumstances so I won't be hasty to judge. Perhaps it's not really THAT loud. But then again, what kind of message is this sending? Christians insist on being shot, that they should have the right to set up shop on the sidewalks and project the Gospel message through amplifiers on public property?

Believe me, I'm all for the ministry, I'm all for the public preaching, but man alive guy, why you gotta bother people for no reason? This isn't by-law office vs. Christians, this is you vs. by-law officers because you're making a ruckus and people can't sleep in on Sunday's. What good is it if you keep getting all this negative press because you can't respect your neighbours?

My solution? Keep on trucking friends, preach till your heart's content. But please, put away the mic, of course, that doesn't mean you can't yell really loud.

Attention Baptist Missionaries

Speaking in Tongues = Watching Porno

Wanna be a Baptist Missionary? Well if you've ever spoken in tongues then you mind as well as spent your time watching hardcore bum porno.

Baptist Missionaries Must Renounce Tongues and Porn

Apparently those in the Baptist denomination in the States hate the speaking of tongues so much that they have equated it to the use of hardcore porn. This is very very sad since somebody forgot to do some basic exegesis here. It also makes me wonder how people can interpret Scripture in such a way that they can make these conclusions. I would be willing to hear someone coherently explain how.

NJ High School Belittles Christians

Somebody Needs to Shoot Somebody

In a mock exercise of course.... Student in a New Jersey high school were put through a drill that depicted a mock hostage taking lead by two 'Christian fundamentalists'. HAha, uh boy. Best quote from the this article is this:

“If the police had portrayed the real life scenario of gay terrorists or abortion rights activists upset for any contrived reason you would read about it in every major paper across the United States; and rightfully so because it would be ridiculously stupid,” commented Terry Trippany, editor at Webloggin, on a personal blog.

Those in the NJ county need to vote with their feet and elect new school trustees, councilmen, etc., if nothing is done about this stupidity.
