Simply Christian – NT Wright

Sticking with books, I've been working through NT Wright's - Simply Christian. It's touted as the contemporary version of CS Lewis' - Mere Christianity. It's a fantastic book, just hard to get through because every few pages you have to stop and think. These kinds of books take forever to read.

Here's the latest excerpt I wanted to share on the issue of worship and the importance of scripture:

....but, as one of the most famous stories in scripture makes abundantly clear, even scripture isn't the very center. When the risen Jesus met two disciples on the road to Emmaus, their hearts burned within them while he talked about the Bible. But their eyes were opened, and they recognized him, when he broke the bread.

You mean Christian aren't 'people of the book?' Huh.
