In this book, which you could pick up maybe, it's not THAT great or insightful, but it's a funny read at times. Best line was in the context offering some 'pastoral advice' at 3AM in the morning to a chronic masterbater who just finished a porno tape and called crying about how he had sinned. When Holy Scripture peaks of God, it does not permit us to let our attention or thoughts wander at random.... When Holy Scripture speaks of God, it concentrates our attention and thoughts upon one single point and what is to be known at that point.... If we ask further concerning the one point upon which, according to Scripture, our attention and thoughts should and must be concentrated, then frmo first to last the Bible direcfts us to the name of Jesus Christ.

No, not Jenkins from the much maligned 'Left Behind' series, but Philip Jenkins author of, "The New Faces of Christianity". Here is one that caught my attention bringing a smile to my face (just cause I thought it was funny)....
In the US and Europe, the term [fundamentalism] usually suggests a bull-headed obstinacy in the face of scientific facts, a tendency outwards repression, especially directed against women or the sexually unorthodox. If that is in fact the future of Christianity, then it is not just theological liberals who have cause for concern, since the new face of Christianity's would look disturbingly like the worst stereotypes of radical Islam.
This is the part where fundamentalists out there in blogosphere call Jenkins a heretic and post back comments how their interpretation of Scripture is the only trusthworthy interpretation and all others should go to hell

We are now featuring a new category section called 'Quote of the Day' where our authors will post favorite quotes from current or past readings. It's just a neat way to engage in some dialogue over the books we read. Enjoy!
